Spiders & Spirits: A Halloween Night In

Who says Halloween is just for the kids? Celebrate with a small group of gal pals or round up the family and include some adult-friendly fun, too!

You might remember the Silly Spider Kids Halloween Party that I put together with my friends, Jackie (Sprinkles & Confetti) and Meghan (Elva M. Design Studio). Today, I am sharing ways you can use many of the same items to add some extra fun for the grown-ups!

Spooky Spider Tablescape

This spider themed extravaganza can be setup with simple party supplies from Sprinkles & Confetti and a few extra items from Amazon or a trip to Target or the dollar store.

To start, decorate the table with a simple white or even black tablecloth. I like to keep linens around in basic colors that you can use for many occasions. You can see this white tablecloth used for a Halloween BOO bar here!

Next, make family members or friends feel special with their very own place settings. You can grab the free printable placemats from Elva M. Design and keep cleanup simple with paper goods from Sprinkles & Confetti.

DIY Spider Web Place Cards

I love a good DIY touch, and these spider web place cards are a super simple project!

What You Need

Embroidery hoop Halloween place cards
  • 3-inch embroidery hoops

  • Lace fabric or doilies

  • Scissors

  • Package of spider rings

  • Ribbon

  • Printed place cards

Cut a square of lace fabric or doily to be slightly larger than the 3-inch embroidery hoop. Unscrew the hoop and secure the fabric tightly into the hoop. Next, use scissors to cut away any excess fabric.

Take a spider ring and cut the ring so it can be placed into the lace like a spider on it’s web. Spider rings can be found just about anywhere this time of year, but I picked up these jeweled spider rings at Michaels. You could also get different colors by spray painting standard spider rings as well, depending on the look you are going for with your table.

Tie a bit of coordinating ribbon at the top! I found thin ribbon works best with these small hoops.

Finally, slip in one of Elva M. Design’s place cards to match the placemat or write out your own on cardstock.

To finish out the table, we re-used lots of the spooky spiders from the kids party and added some candles! It’s always great when you can buy items once and re-use them.

Spooktackular Spirits & Dessert Bar

Serve up some easy drinks with a wine & champagne bar! Individual mini-bottles are easy and COVID-friendly or have bottles open and ready to pour.

DIY Ice Cubes

Decorating a bar or drink station is easy with a few decor items you have on-hand, cute printables, and some fancy ice cubes.

What You Need

  • Ice cube trays

  • Spider Rings

  • Water

Add cheap spider rings to your ice cube trays and add in the water. Freeze and enjoy! Using regular water makes them look spookier to me, but if you want a more “clear” ice cube, be sure to use distilled water. Display them in a bowl with beverages or toss them in an ice bucket. We’ve used these for Halloween parties in the past and they are always a hit.

Dessert Bar

Keep treats simple and support small businesses if you can! We teamed up with Cute and Delish by Kel in the Twin Cities to get these custom cookies created. Again, these can be individually bagged for even more germ-friendly serving options!

Or, if you just want to grab things on a grocery store run, you can order a simple spider web cake and serve up a Halloween snack charcuterie board.

I hope you all have a happy and safe Halloween!
