A Night in Nashville: At Home Edition

Like many of you, our Spring travel plans were halted with the arrival of the coronavirus. We have been staying home, staying healthy, and social distancing. While we were certainly bummed that our April trip to Nashville was cancelled, we decided we could still have some fun by bringing Nashville to us!

If you are looking for a fun way to still “travel” to your favorite destinations, use these tips to create your very own Nashville night or substitute in other decor and food ideas to make any destination come to life in your home.

Set the Table

Quarantining at home has pushed me to be more creative and resourceful! Not to mention, it’s helped my pocketbook. Chances are, you have plenty of items around the house that can be used to set a themed table. Check your stash of tablecloths, placemats, chargers, or even wrapping paper to find items you can use to create a fun table! Worse case? Order a few items shipped directly to your door.

For our Nashville Night, I used a red and white checked tablecloth that I picked up on clearance last Summer at Target. I decided to go with a BBQ vibe and this worked perfectly for that.

I’ve got a trusty collection of chargers that I reuse over and over, but getting out these wooden ones is always a favorite because I made them myself. If you have extra down time, you can check out my tutorial for how to make these wood chargers. I’ve used them for everything from Thanksgiving to a Game of Thrones themed dinner party.

My clearance hoarding came in handy again, when I found these reusable versions of the classic white paper plate. Eco-friendly is a bonus! If you don’t have these laying around, you can use your regular everyday plates or dig out some paper plates leftover from a past BBQ.

I also had some red serving baskets and basket liners that I had previously picked up at Dollar Tree, but you can order similar items online, or skip them all together. Really, this is more about using what you have!

The napkins are towels from Ikea that I’ve used for a bunch of dinner parties, but regular old napkins or paper towels will do, especially with a BBQ theme!

Round-Up a Centerpiece

Looking to create a fun centerpiece? Think outside the box and brainstorm items you can put together! I immediately thought about my Frye boots and re-used the “boot” centerpiece idea from my Basic Fall Girl party a few years ago. I put some vases in them and dug out the wheat stalks from my Fall decor storage bin. Fresh flowers are also easy to pick up on a grocery run. Lastly, I dug out a cowboy hat from our costumes box to complete the look.

Take Advantage of Photos & Printables

If you have a printer at home, it’s a great way to jazz up a themed night at home. I purchased this instant download Nashville poster on Etsy and was able to print it right away! You can also print or dig out photos from your desired destination and hang them up or put them out in picture frames.

Cook Together or Support a Local Restaurant

We decided some Tennessee Hot Fried Chicken and Southern sides would be the perfect menu for our Nashville night in. Here in Minnesota, many local restaurants are still offering takeout and/or delivery and we wanted to support a favorite during this crazy time! We picked up chicken and all of the fixings from The North Coop. I ‘chickened’ out on adding the spiciness to mine, but it was SO good!

Cooking a themed menu is also a great way to spend time together, too! Either way, you get a little flavor of your destination!

I created some fun printables that you are welcome to download to create that BBQ restaurant feel! They fit 4x6 frames when cut.

Create a Playlist

Finally, we put on some country tunes! It was a fun mix of oldies and new songs. Spotify has great pre-made playlists or you can make it part of the fun to build your own.

What destination do you want to create?! I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments below!
