Winter Woodland Warm Up Bar
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! I am still working to put away Christmas decor and slowly transitioning to a mix of our regular decor and some Winter touches.
For our bar area this holiday season, I decided to go with more of a Winter rather than Christmas look and I'm excited that it gets to stay up through January. Plus, it allows me to share it with you now. I had grand intentions of sharing it pre-holidays, but there were so many other fun things to post about that I just ran out of time.
To start, I layered on some buffalo snow. You can likely snag some of this at a bargain clearance price right now! Next, I added on some birch logs of various sizes. My sister-in-law used these at her wedding and when she was getting rid of them, I snatched them up. You could also use other wooded elements or metallic trays or platters.
Speaking of metallics, I knew I wanted to use copper! You may remember I fell in love with copper for our wedding. I still have some DIYs I need to share from that!
Last year, a friend of mine gave me some gorgeous copper bar tools as a thank you gift and I was excited to use those. I also had lots of little copper pieces leftover from our wedding centerpieces and favors. You can often pick up fun pieces from local thrift stores or estate sales for a few dollars each.
With all of this copper, it was just perfect when I stumbled upon some copper mugs at Dollar Tree! I couldn't believe they were only $1! Other copper mugs are often $5-$20 a piece, which makes me less likely to add anything to make them seasonal. But, with these, I was excited to add a little something.
I have been loving the deer trend on plates, pillows, and wall prints. I knew using my Cricut to create something would be perfect. I found a free deer clipart and used some silver metallic vinyl to create stickers for each mug. The inside was steel, so these looked perfect on the mugs!
Having made matchboxes for our wedding, I had some extra boxes and kraft paper around, and made some to add the little deer to as well! You can pick up packs of 10 matchboxes at the dollar store and follow my tutorial from our favor post to customize them how you'd like. I just made some smaller deer with vinyl using my Cricut and added them on just like a sticker.
I also added a whisky jug I had around the house that I purchased at a vintage sale several years ago and displayed a bottle of some Minnesota Juniper Gin! Perfect for mixing up Winter cocktails. Add in a paper straw or a fun tree stir stick and you will be ready to warm up by the fire!
