Silly Spiders: Kid-Friendly Halloween Party Ideas

It’s officially October and that means I am excited for all things Halloween! To kick off this festive month, I’ve teamed up with Elva M. Design Studio and Sprinkles & Confetti to give you some tips on hosting a kid-friendly Halloween party.

Setting the Table

Who says Halloween tablescapes are just for adult dinner parties? Whether your are hosting kids for a little lunchtime playdate or gathering the neighborhood kiddos before trick-or-treat, it’s easy to set a festive table.

Start with a simple, white tablecloth and print Elva M. Design’s 11x17 printable placemats. You can print these at your local Staples for less than $5. Next, keep it simple with paper products. Sprinkles and Confetti carries so many fun Halloween products shipped right to your doorstep. For this silly spiders theme, consider using classic black and orange combos. Start with a black and white striped plate and layer on another smaller, festive plate.

Solid color silverware can be tossed in a festive jar and plain black cups and napkins are always a great accents and budget friendly at the same time!

Keep the centerpiece simple with a spider web table runner, some fun balloons, and festive themed printables from Elva M. Design. You can also pick up all kinds of spiders from Dollar Tree. They have so many spiders big and small!

No Tricks, Just Treats on this Snack Buffet!

Serve your little spiders easy snacks with a mix of salty and sweet. Keep the menu simple with some popcorn and m&ms combo. For this you simply need to throw in some festive m&ms on top of the popcorn.

Don't forget to serve it up in scary bowl. Our little friend the skeleton sure was enjoying it!

For the cake, we went with a simple spiderweb design and added in some of the toy spiders to it. This is simply a grocery store cake that we had custom made and it turned out amazing! Dressing up a grocery store cake keeps cost down and you get to put your own spin on it!

If you are going to purchase some additional treats, custom sugar cookies are always fun! The details on these are amazing and were designed to match our silly spider theme! If you are local to the Minneapolis, Minnesota area you have to check out Cookies And More By Lisa.

Jackie from Sprinkles & Confetti put together the cutest Halloween charcuterie board with sweet and savory treats. Start with some cheese puff balls and oreos, and then add in some gummy worms, eyeballs, and candy corn. You can choose whatever your favorite snack items are and arrange them on a board or platter. Simple and sure to please your little guests!

You'll also want to serve your little ghouls something to wash it down. These orange drinks bring a pop of a color and the kids will get a kick out of drinking Spider Venom and Bat Brew. Whatever your drink choice, adding some of the themed printables dresses up any glass, can, or bottle!

DIY Spider Ice

For a fun themed way to keep the party drinks cold, have you kiddos help you make some DIY spider ice before the party! All you need is ice cube trays, dollar store spider rings, and water! I first did some decorative ice for a bridal shower last year and it was such a hit, I thought a Halloween version would be fun, too!

All you need to do it pull spider rings, ring-side down, into your ice cube tray. Fill up with water and freeze! That’s it! If you want the ice to appear more clear, use distilled water. It’s available in gallon jugs in the water aisle of your grocery store. Otherwise, regular water will do and it gives it a foggier, spookier, look.

Our giveaway winner will be receiving trays and spiders to make their very own!

Halloween Party Favors

I love a good, budget-friendly party favor! I’ve given out everything from travel coffee mugs to honey dippers and guests always love a little takeaway. For this party, I picked up some spider slime from Walmart for just a few dollars and added some printed labels from Elva M. Design Studio!
