Decor To Be Thankful For

It's Thanksgiving week and I have a lot to be grateful for. My blog has been on a little hiatus again for a couple of reasons. First, I migrated everything over to this new platform! Google Blogger was a nice starting point, but it was time to get a little fancier. My other excuse is this ring:

I have been distracted by how sparkly it is and may also have been a bit distracted wedding planning. But, I am certain wedding crafts are sure to provide some excellent content for the blog. One post is already in progress!

Although it's a little close to the holiday, I wanted to feature my Thanksgiving mantle. With not much turn-around time between Halloween and Thanksgiving, I was able to repurpose some of my earlier fall mantel items and spruce it up with a couple of cheap finds and a trip to the storage room downstairs.

You may recognize the "fall" bottles from an earlier post. I wasn't ready to put these away for the year, so I found a new way to style them on the mantel. I used old frames I'd spray painted for my September mantel and my Fourth of July mantel. The white frame also made an appearance in my Halloween decor. You can often find cheap frames at garage sales, estate sales, or thrift stores for a few dolllars. Even if it comes with an ugly photo, just chuck that piece of it and make a few in fun colors to have around.

The majority of my Thanksgiving mantel comes from things I had around. I decided to use my neutral pumpkins, mixing in book pumpkings I purchased a few years ago from The Cottage House. Pinterest has tutorials on how to make them yourself or you can buy similar ones on Etsy.

The banner was my big splurge at $7.99 from Target. It is made of a nice heavy metal and came in a copper color, so I really couldn't leave it behind. I've been a sucker for copper this year! The "Gobble, Gobble 'Til you Wobble" sign was a $1 find in Target's Dollar Spot. This year they had a couple of banners and some other harvest decor for $5 or less. 

The picture was a free printable that included three fall dictionary definitions. Whenever I go to Michael's, I peruse the sale and clearance frames. I've had this gold one around for a while that I snagged for $5. They come in handy for quick projects like this and you can easily change out free printable art!

With the decor up, I'm ready to host our families for Thanksgiving! Now to finalize the tablescape...
